Alexander Gronsky's work explores the sparse regions of Russia's Hinterland
- an area where the population is less than one person per kilometer. His beautiful images capture the isolation and vastness of the area, whilst subtly showing the nature of the people that live there; a single woman on the beach ready for a swim in what can only be freezing water; two people standing on a hill side surrounded by cardboard boxes; a car supported by stilts. His discovery of the area is communicated effortlessly through his composition, timing and his vast array of locations and subjects.
